Dutch tree strap clip vs end loops.

    Hey guys,
I have question. Trying to keep things light - I don't have a full setup yet, just some camping gear, and hammock with whoopie slings.

I need to get tree straps - but would it not be better/lighter to get straps with a loop at one end and just pull it through at the tree then use a toggle, or use the dutch clips below.

    http://dutchwaregear.com/dutch-clip.html

Whats the difference and why go with a clip - wont that add weight? I know its only grams, but just curious. As I am trying to keep things on the cheap, I wanted to ask.

Thanks - Love this site! Long time reader, and slow "kit" builder. I need to figure out tarp and bugnet too. But that comes later.

You can do either. The Dutch clip makes it much quicker and easier.

Dutch himself doesn't even use the clips all the time. He uses them when he is using cinch buckles or similar, which are more difficult to pull through the loop, and when not using a whoopie sling. See this thread:

Yes it is lighter and sometimes I still use the loop with a stick for a toggle and more sticks for tarp stakes. It's quicker with hardware.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

My reasoning for weight to cut is I have pretty bad knees, and I am outta shape on top of that, I have never hiked over night - I know, close the jaw...shocking. But I have hung, at the beach under the house using the pillars, it was great!
