    Double rain fly

If this has been done before I apologize, but I'm pretty new and haven't come across this yet. I'm wanting to get my girlfriend into backpacking w me and would like her to try "hanging". We usually sleep in a tent when camping, but as you all know the hammock is so much more comfortable. Her problem is she is scared of being by herself when sleeping and I don't want this to keep her away from future backpacking trips. I've been looking around for "large" rain flys that would allow two hammocks to be comfortable. I'm not a gram counter, so a little extra weight doesn't bother me if we will be comfortable around camp and sleep comfortably. Any suggestions? I'm tossing around the idea of making a tarp or possibly the Hennessy Hex. Good chance of rain where we are going so I want to be covered. I appreciate any suggestions! Thanks ahead

Kelty Noah 12 would be a good option if you can find trees with the right spacing. Share either the foot or head side, and secure the other side to two separate trees that are close together.

Have a look at the tarps Wilderness Logics offers. If you contact Marty with your wishes, I'm sure he will be able to help you out - even if it requires a bit of custom work.

If you think you would be hanging by sharing a tree on one end in order to hang to two separate but close trees on the other end, then you might contact Paul at Arrowhead Equipment about a large version of the Shangri-La as that shape is more conducive to that sort of layout. You would want an extra set of tie outs to offset the ridgeline so that you can get extra coverage on one side. Just a thought, but in terms of a large tarp that isn't so terribly heavy, this might be something to think about.

I double hang with my girl in a bunk fashion, with her hanging above me. A hennessy hex tarp provides adequate coverage for light weather.

I was going to suggest bunk style as well. Would something like that work?
