Pillow: Not sleep just to read, watch TV or scenery

For over 40 years in gathered end hammocks I have never used a pillow to sleep, but often use one to read if resting my head on the edge does not work for some reason. I have an Exped inflatable pillow and tried it a few times but it moved around a lot, fell out blew away almost, I rarely even use it when forced to go to ground. Exped packs very small and is OK shape for airplane trip but flight attendant responded rudely when I requested to suspend hammock between lavatory doors or from overhead bins. JK
My 13 year old daughter uses huge bed pillows in a hammock and in car and just about everywhere, evidently a tween girl thing?

I like using a small one more for the neck as the hammock shape supports the head

I use a pillow under my knees, but usually nothing under my head.

I use a cocoon ultralight neck pillow. I have found that its most comfortable upside down (like a U). It supports my neck and head while not raising my head off of the hammock.

I don't use a pillow when sleeping on my back but I like to use one when I sleep on my side. The stuffsack that I use for my clothes has fleece on one side of the inside. When I get to camp, I invert the sack and stuff it with whatever extra clothes and any empty stuffsacks I have. Then I connect it to a short-ish cord (that hangs from my ridgeline) so that the pillow doesn't sink to the middle of the hammock when I'm not using it. I can get it out of the way when back-sleeping and find it easily when I switch to side sleeping.

I also use a cocoon ultralight pillow. It weighs 3+ ounces with the stuff sack, and being inflatable I can adjust the size for whatever I need it for (reading, sleeping, knees, etc).

I like a pillow myself. Have tried inflatables (Montbell and some other cheapie brand that I don't recall) and a couple with synthetic fill and never have been quite happy. This spring I picked up a Thermarest down pillow from REI with my dividend and love it.

I use a pillow (usually made from something I was carrying anyway, rather than a dedicated pillow) in my hammock and if ground dwelling. Just more comfortable to have it.

Yeah, multi functional items are fun and efficient. Typically I will use one of my Zpacks drysacks with leftover clothing, or whatever I have that can be stuffed inside. But on warm nights where my hat isn't on while sleeping I have toyed with getting the pillow dry sack from Zpacks. Though I suppose I could just wrap the normal drysack in something lighter if its purly a skin-contact issue.

Full size pillow. Helps spread the hammock out and prevents shoulder squeeze.
