Wedge allows you to extend the fly to obtain better views and rain coverage. The material has a much better hydrostatic head than silnylon normally found in the US and is virtually waterproof, unlike most silnylon.
Spacious design, allowing room on all four sides of the user (for gear, a child, or dog) as well as usable headroom at the peak of the interior, thanks to the lateral ridge poles which connects the inverted trekking "tent" poles. This also creates a strong structure to stand against wind loads.
Modes:
1.) Star Gazing Mode, requiring only two stakes, in which the fly material is pulled and rolled over the top ridge pole and held in place by simple tension.
2.) Storm Mode, requiring a minimum of 4-6 stakes, in which the front wedge is zipped shut and both front and back vestibules and staked closed to the ground
3.) Porch Mode, in which the wedge is unzipped and a third pole is added to create an "awning" over the front entrance for more dry working space and gear storage.
4.) Also, the fly can be rolled back and tied off to make access simple in good weather.
