Very cool.. Waiting for a report....Have a blast!!
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..
Looking forward to a new trail in Michigan. Can't wait to try this one out. FYI, scroll down to the Michigan section and you can download the new map under the "Fife Lake Loop Handout: http://northcountrytrail.org/trail/g...motional-maps/ . Lots of good stuff on this page too. Took awhile to find it since it's buried in their blog section.
post the details when you get back and if you can compare it to another trail to get an idea of it's difficulties. how were the sites or did you camp off trail? any good places to swim?

I will do a full write up later. Its a incredible hike and the amazing thing is we saw NO ONE on the trail. No one! On the south and east sides you can get water. The last good place we got water at while heading north along the east side was the pump at spring lake.
This is the map we used and it was quite accurate. I did not pay a fee to park at the trail head at the old 131 camp ground. A fee is required if you camp there. You could park at the trail head and take a very short walk (.8) miles west and have your pick of lovely creek side camping.

The blazes are all well done and at no time were we really confused as to where to go. The only issue we had was finding the pump at spring lake. If you hug the trail the whole way while in the camp ground you will come to the sign nailed to the map board that says "no camping beyond this point." The pump is down the road to your right down the hill. If you are a going to swing into the lake the pump will be north east of the beach. That water is good and cold and felt wonderful. If you see my shemagh there hold onto it.
The review is up. I had a ton more pics but did not realize you can only do 15 per post.

You can swim at any of the lakes we came across. The spit of land between the two lakes would be my next spot of choice for an over night. Swimming, fishing, lots of trees.
