    OMAHA, NE (College World Series)

My beloved Ole Miss Rebels are heading to Omaha to play for the NCAA Championship! I'm seriously considering catching a ride out and backpacking for the CWS. Does anyone know of any good places to hammock camp near Omaha? I'm not opposed to throwing my straps up in someone's back yard.

Indian Caves State Park is about 45 min-hour south of Omaha. Attended my first 'hang' there, and know several hangers who have camped there over the years.

Include Council Bluffs Iowa and surrounding towns. Council Bluffs is just across the river from Omaha.

Congrats on the CWS trip. Wish the Tigers were going too.

Hope you can find some trees to hang from.

Your best bet would be Hitchcock Nature Center. About 15-20 minute drive to the stadium from there. Some decent backpack in primitive sites available.

Sorry, no. My Rebels won that Super Regional. The Ragin Cajuns deserve to be there though. They're probably better than half the teams going to Omaha. And those beards...

Lake Manawa campground in Council Bluffs, IA would be the closest to downtown omaha. I don't know if there are tent sights. I know there are trees in the area but lived there before i knew about hanging and i wasn't analyzing it for hanging potential. Hitchcock a few miles north of there would be the most scenic. Like CFI said there are some backpacking sites but I also think car camping is available. Arrowhead park is a little farther away. If you got all the way to the back loop there should be some hanging potential there. Good luck.

Arrowhead may work, but do not camp by lake manawa. It's got some decent mountain bike trails but I would feel unsafe staying there overnight. Lots of bad things transpire there.

Have a great time! I'd be there too for my Red Raiders if I wasn't already out of vacation days for the year.
