The itch is either spreading or it just never goes away because I have it too. I did that trail last year with keg and jiblets. I enjoyed the first part but the section from Harness to Provoking was not as scenic.

I still can't go on this one. My wife gave me the go ahead but I can't get any vacation time at work for that weekend.

Which section of the trail did you do? Perhaps a trip report would be in order.

I'd be happy with something on the north shore of georgian bay. I haven't done the Spanish yet. We also chatted on the last trip about La Cloche.

I just got back from a 5 day loop of Massassauga and I know the itch(s) Rob's talking about. Trip report to follow.

I wouldn't mind coming, if there's room. I get back from a trip out west late on Thursday night, but if I prep my pack before I leave, I should be able to get out the door early Friday morning.
I'm just thinking most parks will be booked by now on popular routes. Crown Land? Or a lesser used access point?

What is this Spanish trail you speak of. Please pm me as not to clutter this post. We just finished part of LaCloche. From George Lake Gate to Silver peak and back on he east trail. I all ready posted a quick report. Next year, doing the whole thing. I will be busy that weekend so unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Aug1-4. One of these times I will meet you guys!

Half way through July. Any thoughts?

    Backpacking v. Canoe?

Location thoughts? Odds are most of the major parks will be booked by now. Smaller parks? North of Sudbury? Crown land?

Suggestion... North Frontenac Parklands (not Frontenac Provincial Park) just east of Bon Echo. It's crown land that's managed by the municipality. You need permits for the campsites and to be on the crown roads. I just did 2 days on Crotch Lake. We got windbound and weren't able to finish the trip but it's a beautiful area. You can check out the campsite availability here...

    Here's a sample canoe route...

It's about 3 hours from Toronto and 2 from Ottawa. I just did a check and there are 47 campsites still available August 1st - 4th.

Be fine with me. An area I haven't been to.

A while back I was looking at crown land in the area. Wasn't aware about the municipal management.

    Morning everyone,

We're a couple of weeks out and it would probably make sense to settle on a destination. Ggreaves floated the idea of the North Frontenac Parklands, and that sounds ok. Alternatively, we could think about heading up to Bying Inslet (or there abouts) and doing some crown land base-camping on the Georgian Bay. I did a similar trip years ago and it was amazing. Bigger water but beautiful scenery. A real change from the inland waterways I usually paddle. Any comments?
