Trip postponed 1 day because of torrential rains on the 12th. Ordinary rain on the 13th, overcast and damp on the 14th, beautiful on the 15th. This 30 mile trail has some spectacular places for hanging--but the timing has to be right. My timing was off for hanging with spectacular canyon views, for example. What hanging I had was Shugtacular enough. Fixed a suddenly insecure UQ clip with some mason's line tied to ridgeline (passing through zipper pull area--not a long term solution but kept me toasty non-slipping UQ warm), set up on an incline and over crappy ground, enjoyed a porch one day.
And you've heard it before--hear it again from someone with decades of hiking and camping experience:
Best.
Night's.
Sleep.
Ever.
The trail itself was blazed by a manic depressive--some areas hilariously over-blazed, other places under-blazed. Some narrow, dangerous trail bits. North half better than the south half, and I recommend the mid-state connector start. I met five brothers out on a bonding family run, the oldest fellow I've ever seen wearing a GoPro camera, and I managed through luck to return a lost water bottle to its rightful owner.

First night's hang. Then fire with attempt to dry some footgear. Went from wet to damp. Night 2 hang. Took awhile to find this as main camping area in my target zone was occupado. View out porch of same. And finally a nifty tree on a ledge, probably most-photographed thing on the trail. Good lunch spot for the last day.
