    2014 Utah Hang Trip Report

sodakgrrl, myself and murphy (our dog) attended the utah hang june 12-15 and had a wonderful time, met some really nice people and got to see some gorgeous scenery

we left lead s.d. wednesday night and drove to casper wy. and spent the night and headed out from there bright and early thursday morning arriving at skull creek camp ground in flaming gorge national recreation area at about noon, arczeneb, pgibson, dman, his buddy scott and maddtom were already there and had their camps set up

we shared site 12 with cataraftgirl who showed up shortly after us, socakgrrl and myself found 4 perfect trees for our camps

here is my setup, diy silargon camo tarp and diy bridge made by sodakgrrl

we did a bit of sightseeing on thursday, if you have never been to flaming gorge i can say with 100% certainty that it is well worth going to see

they were doing the spring flush for the green river to improve fish habitat and get rid of silt, normally the river runs at appox. 5200 cfps. but they had the valves open and it was running at 9200 cfps.

here are a couple pics of the flush going on, those 2 tubes are about 10' tall

friday night was our potluck and everyone walked away extremely hungry as we didn't have nearly enough eat it was all very delicious and if you every get the chance to sample cataraftgirls dutch over peach cobble i highly recommend it!

saturday we visited the dinosaur national monument south of flaming gorge, it was very interesting, sodakgrrl took all the pictures there, hopefully i can get her to post some of them, the petroglyphs were really awesome and both our favorite thing there

saturday night 2eez4life showed up giving a grand total 9 hangers for the event......plus murphy

I enjoyed your report of the Flaming Gorge area. I had my eye on this trip in the planning stages, but knew I would not be able to make it.

Great photos! I like the looks of those argon tarps too!

Nice report. Did the fishermen do any good?
Sorry I could not make it.
When I told my wife about the trip way back when she had other plans for Fathers Day so
I lost my kitchen pass. Looks like a great campground for hammocks.
How did the sylargon tarp workout in the rain compared to the sylnylon?

i know paul did pretty good in some smaller streams, the green was really flowing and making things a bit tough, plus without any local knowledge i kinda struggled, still beat a day at work though

the tarps worked every bit as good as silnylon imo
