I hope you have campsite reservations as it tends to be a busy place on during the holidays. And what is a world class backpacker such as yourself doing out there during tourist time?

FWIW - 'ber and I did the top half of Thomas Divide last week, a nice groomed trail without rocks or water crossings - good choice.

    Yes on the reservations. I'm a world-class planner .

Just had to have some wood time even if tourist are there. Let me know the next time you hike and you think it's something I am physically capable of. Can I hike with boy scouts?? I love children.

    See you soon!!

The Cub Scouts can handle the hiking but not many of the parents can. A fall outing is a good idea, need to get Traffic some boot time. How's your 900 coming along, I'm still chipping away at it?

900 miles has not had much attention of late, but I have this hike next weekend and I'm going out on my first solo this weekend in the Smokies. Its fun to add ink to the map I'll do a trip report next week and let you know how I faired. My pack for the weekend is 9 lbs without water.

Co-workers have my itinerary in case I don't show up for work Monday

I would love a Fall hike with Roche/Traffic clan! Give her my regards and tell her Hello for me. Have you ever been to Pathertown?

First solo woohoo! Looking forward to the trip vid.
I just got off the bicycle trying (in vain) to get ready for the Great Alleghany Passage.
I bet it was hot on the trail-was toasty on the bike.
