    How to diy zipper

I'm putting a zippered bug net on a Grand Trunk UL.
I've been using Xtrekker's video on youtube for instructional guidance.
I have the zipper sewed from the one gathered end all the way around to the same gathered end (not sewn together).
Now I need to install the pulls and make it all work.

I'd like to make it fully removable but it doesn't have to be.
My problem is, I have several yards of #5 coil zipper and pulls from DIY Gear Supply but how is this all going to fit together?
Do I need zipper stops or insertion pins? I didn't see any of that stuff available for sale on the website so does everyone usually do it without those things?
I could sew a stop in, so that part isn't a huge deal. The net just wouldn't be removable.

Does anyone have any tips or photos of what you do?
Or where do you buy your insertion pins and zipper stops etc?

    Thanks

If you want to be able to remove the net, do not put stops the teeth. It is some what easier to put the slider on when the zipper is open. Align the ends so one side is 1/2" or so past the other. Slide the long side into the appropriate channel in the slider. Put the other end into the other channel and force the zipper tape through. It sounds harder than it is. To put the slider on the other way the zippeer needs to be closed. slide the teeth into the crimping end of the slider and pull the tape apart and up through the slider. It can take some getting used to but it's pretty easy once you get the hang.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I got them aligned perfectly and it was quite easy, as you said.

I also tied off the start and end of the zipper to prevent it from accidentally or unexpectedly coming apart.

I used a soldering iron to melt a tiny hole on each side of teeth and then tied them together with 1/16" cord.

It also acts as a zipper stop even though I don't think the net will ever get unzipped that close to the end.

I don't know if that step was necessary or not but it adds a little peace of mind ensuring the zipper will be secure for the bug season.

The bug net is still fully removable and only requires untying a square not and zipping it off.
