Public Service Announcement - Learn from my mistake

I was moving to full time hanging and had a most flukey accident related to hammocking. Thought I'd share in hopes it might save someone else some misery. I had been laying in the hammock and was getting ready to get up so had swung my legs up over the edge. I got distracted by something and sat there for a while and realized my leg had gone to sleep as a result of my leg over the edge of the hammock... Got out of the hammock and stepped down on my foot and probably broke a bone in my ankle. Have a knot the size of a goose egg and will know after the ortho doc reads the x-rays. Stupid thing. So be careful when you sit in your hammock - make sure your legs have circulation before you get up! I won't do that again, for sure. The worst was explaining to everyone at Urgent Care and the drugstore that I broke my ankle getting out of a hammock. Won't live that one down. So don't do what I did!

Dang thats a bummer. Get well soon.
Reminds me, when I was a teenager and sitting on a desk in a classroom with legs hanging off the side, I didn't realize my legs had no circulation from the desk corner so I hopped down (as teenage boys will do) and I fell into a heap on the floor! My legs were practically paralyzed. In my case it was funny cuz I didn't get hurt. Hope you're not damaged too badly.
    Good luck,

I wondered how long before I got a 'pictures or it didn't happen'! I'll spare you the really ugly non-splinted version and if I figured out how to upload, here's the evidence. And that big lump on the outside of my ankle is not extra splint material. It's the lump on my ankle. Yeah, it's been funny to watch people struggle to not laugh at my misery when I tell them what happen. The ego suffers, but this certainly isn't the first dumb thing I've done.

Wow, that sucks ... duly noted!!!! Good luck with recovery.
