Is there any advantage of buying direct from Hennessy Hammock Co vs Amazon or any other retailer?
Hennessey sometimes has really good sales. Not long ago y they were giving a free scout hammock with purchase of expedition or higher value hammock. They are cheaper than REI, but it may take a while for Hennessey to deliver depending on where you live.
My hammock...is MyD0j0!
Hennessy has been known to not honor warranties on third party sales unless they are part of an approved distribution stream. If you don't mind being stuck with a defective product then I guess not. Forgeries have been known to show up from time to time. If the source you buy it from will not honor the warranty, but refers you back to HH for warranty service I would avoid it.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Free advice worth what you paid for it. ;-)
If you buy directly you can also switch out the stock tarp for a different one.
Awesome thanks for the quick replies! Much appreciated!
If you think you might do that, it might make a direct Hennessy purchase worthwhile. I used my REI coupon on my hammock, if I remember correctly, so I saved a little money that way, but later when I looked into upgrading the tarp, I realized that I could upgraded the tarp at the time of purchase, had I bought it from Hennessy, and it would have been cheaper than buying the hammock at a discount and buying the hex fly as an additional purchase.
On the other hand, I went for several years using my stock tarp and my cheap-but-huge Gear Guide tarp, and it's only now that I'm getting ready to replace it, so I'm not really feeling like I lost money on that deal. Still, there have been a number of times between now and then when I would have liked to have something bigger than the stock tarp with me when bad weather sprung up.
Yeah Rob I think I'm going to go direct and get the Hex Rainfly added. I believe I'll be happier if I do that!
