Aluminum Marlin Spike Toggles

I just saw these as I was checking out Simply light designs hammocks and I have no idea what they do!

It says "Ultralight Aluminum Toggles for use in your Hammock Suspension System."....but where? how?

The toggle can be almost anything that resists compression. Using a trail stick you find around camp is good if you don't want to carry toggles or worry about losing them. You could also use things like bits of old arrow shafts, copper tubing, PVC tubing, tent stake...you get the picture.

I would check archery shops. They cut arrows to size and the fall off from large aluminum shafts would be perfect for toggles.

Anybody use carbon fiber arrows for toggles? they should be even lighter than aluminium. I think I have a few old ones left from last season.

Yep, that's exactly what I use... just went into the basement and dug up an old aluminum arrow for toggles.

If you had to buy one, I'm sure probably not much more than a couple $'s for one. Not sure, been a real long time since I shot aluminum, just carbon now. That being said.... either would work. One arrow, should be a lifetime supply....

Carbon would be more than strong enough.

But really.... how much weight savings is there to get on a 2" toggle? If I had carbon to use I would, but I wouldn't pass on aluminum if I had that, but not carbon....

But if you have some you don't intend to use...then ya... for sure way more than strong enough!!
