You could always hang near the Falls Shelter on the Tully Lake Trail in Royalston or at the Muddy Pond Shelter along the Midstate Trail in Westminster.

Otter River is a nice state forest not that far away from Leominster. You are also not that far away from Harold Parker.

If you go to the pines ask for a primitive site far far away from the RVs
===> Plus, you don't really need a 'site' there! Just tell Paul you will be somewhere back on his 20 acres of woodlands. For a Bushcraft outing, you could also go down near the creek, away from the formal sites. Water supply and everything!
