Thanks for the videos Shug. I've enjoyed some of your work already. Now, I'm learning tarps.

Well, I finally got out to give tarpin and hanging another try at Yellow River SF, Iowa.

Here's the hammock with my Fronkey-style bugnet. The net was quite handy when the flying vampires found me.

Here's one with my Tadpole tarp in porch mode.

The last one is with most of the gear unpacked. Home sweet tarp.

I won't say it was the best sleep ever, but I did sleep quite a bit. I woke up a few times, but overall, it was a great improvement over previous attempts. I think the ridgeline is doing it's job. I've set up my tarp and hammock on 3 different occasions, and it has rained all 3 times. At least I know my Wildernesslogics Tadpole is a good piece of gear. My SHT thru-hike is delayed due to work schedule problems, but I'm still planning on going whenever I finally get the okay. I really appreciate all the advice which got me here. Thanks everyone.

I didn't see a ridgeline on your hammock as it appears you would get a better sleep if the hammock wasn't so curved. Something to think about as once you get the ridgeline adjusted. you can hang it a lot quicker and easier.

    Buckeye Bill,

I have a ridgeline on it (it's holding up the mosquito netting), although you're right, it's hard to see. I'll keep on tweaking it as I get more time in.

    Thanks a bunch.

Looks pretty good. The suspension angle looks a little shallow but it shouldn't be a factor in comfort due to the SRL. It does put some unnecessary strain on the suspension, RL and the trees. Consider getting closer to 30 degrees.

What is the length of your RL and what percentage of your hammock length is it? There does seem to be a lot of sag which I personally don't mind but you may find it not as comfortable. Keep tweaking and you'll find your sweet spot.
