They are kind of thin, it just dulls the sunlight instead of blocking it.

7 x 9 feet and 1 lb 5 oz seems a bit out of line for it's size. As a loaner I would question using such a small tarp for an inexperienced user. But of course if you are only doing fair weather hanging the question is somewhat moot.

For a diamond camo tarp, I think I would rather spend an extra few dollars and get the Claytor Diamond Fly. It's bigger, and no grommets.
