Excellent report! Very detailed. I think I need to plan a trip to Michigan now.

Great report wish I would have read it before I went to the island. Just got back Sunday from 5 days in serenity. Hope to get a trip report out this weekend.

Great trip report! I've been reading about Manitou Island for a while now. Looks like an incredible place to hike.
Your "bunch of flowers in the middle of nowhere" are Marsh Marigolds. One of the earliest flowers. I have a bunch in my garden. They love it wet.

Hi Vince! Cindy and I are heading back to the island hopefully sometime in May. We're going to do a week again... but are trying to get time for two weeks. Love the trip report - it's nice to have it documented. We couldnt get up there last year, just too much going on and grandkids to watch. We're going to explore the north end of the island this time.
