Sorry to hear this. I was really looking forward to some map and compass work. It's been far to long for me. Hope to catch you at the next hang.

I can't picture a situation where I need to be Hat Collector again, but I can fill that task too.
Smoke magnet it is I'm far from an expert but I'll have all the needed gear to sharpen any grind.

    >> ~Reason~ - That's good information on the bears. I assume that applies to the raccoons as well.

    >> R3l@x It - just wouldn't be a hang without a few blades to sharpen

I expect to arrive around mid-day Friday. I plan to recruit whoever is present to help schlep gear. The EZ up will require 2 people to carry it. Your efforts will be generously rewarded with some tasty vittles. I am so looking forward to this.

Yes, the only animal problem we have had up there is an occasional mouse and they dont eat much. The rest of the animals just trot by and look pretty so far.

I will be bringing three very young puppies and momma, so please just give me a heads up if you are planning on bringing a dog.

I am hoping to get there early afternoon Friday. I will need a hand with a large EZ-Up as well, 2-man job, and offer my sherpa services to help carry anyone else's gear.

Started on the chili tonight and slow cooking it throughout the night and tomorrow morning. Was thinking it will be easiest to freeze in small containers (frozen chili bricks) and just thaw/heat portions as needed. Not sure how many servings it will make, maybe 8-10?

I have a roll of raffle tickets I can bring.

This is my first official group hang so not sure how the raffles work. Do folks usually bring extra $$ to buy tickets or does everyone just receive a raffle ticket for showing up? Sorry, I'm the noob here.

The trade blanket idea sounds great also. I can throw some extra gear in the car for that too, just in case.

Lastly, puppies! Got to love puppies at a get together.

Looking forward to seeing you all up there.

    Cheers,
    E

For the record, R3L@X is a fine knife sharpener. He touched one of my blades up last winter and did a great job. He is a man of many talents. He also made me a Kydex Trigger Guard for my .45 Cal and taught me how to do them myself.

He's bringing his strop, compounds, etc..... Make it worth his while and bring your favorite blade. Believe me you'll be happy when he's done with it.

    Look forward to seeing everyone.

CountryRoads, Dutch and I are riding together and we hope to be there around 2pm.

    All the best !
    Gil

P.S. - Thanks to Cindy and her family for affording all of us the opportunity to hang together on their property. Very generous folks.

The thing with the raffle is it usually go to pay for the cost of the hang and then charity. I am assuming there are no cost with this hang but charity is good. People bring money to buy raffle tickets. It is done differently everywhere I go. I have bling to bring. I will let you all decide if you want to do it. I can just give gift certificates to who doesn't snore.
    Peace Dutch
