Hi Jcavenagh...this was a first for me in many ways. First time really backpackin'...and first solo anywhere other then a backyard. From what I've read, the SNP is beautiful in the fall. And I bet a tsd more folks then I saw last week! But I'm looking forward to going back!! Have a great Fourth.

Sounds like a fun trip. I had backpacked RipRap back in the mid 70's and your story brought back some memories.
Now that I don't have to sleep on the ground anymore, I plan on getting back out on the trails and RipRap will be on my list.

Hi jim52...yeah, I'm going back. Now that I've done it and know what to expect and time it takes, I can plan for an extended trip spanning a couple of trails in the park. When I do Riprap again, I'll make sure I'm hanging in higher ground....better airflow and views. Thanks for the comment.

I got to say... that sounds like a mighty great plan to get the body temp back in line. A nice relaxing dip in the water while a nice sip of your favorite drink... what more motivation do you need for a good hang? that does make a lot of sense in a few way. LOL No but seriously, it's great to hear you got out there... that's what's it's all about!

Wow, just saw you question....sorry for not responding back then. The filter came with a semi rigid bag that you put the water to be filtered in....screw the filter on and either drink directly or fill water bottles. The problem is trying to fill the bag. Because of the shape and material it's made from, it tends to want to roll up so getting water into it is a pain. I'm going to go with a dry sack with tubing fixed to it....should be easier to fill. Klause had a great idea using gallon ziplock bags.
