    Backyard setup with no trees?

I just need to pick your brains a little. I don't have any trees in my backyard. I do have a sturdy fence for one end of my hammock. Are there any suggestions of a way to setup the other end of my hammock in the backyard without putting a post in the ground? Is there some kind of way to build a makeshift, moveable stand? I want to be able to set up my tarp as well.

Look around in the DIY section. A TurtleDog stand is a simple bet and half a TurtleDog stand could be used if you have one end already in place.

Also links in my sig line.

Turtledog Stand. Do you have a wood swingset for the kids? Use it as the base for one side of a turtledog stand. You can probably set up two hammocks and have a campout with a child.

I don't have a swing set. Would the turtle dog work without the pipe? Maybe if I built one and used my fence for the other end?

    Nope.

The hammock pulls on either end towards the center and would pull the stand down.

That's why you either have to sink a post, or have a ridge pole to keep the ends from falling toward each other.

Use the fence as one point. One tripod and the ridge pole of a turtle dog on the other. Shouldn't be tough to make it detachable from the fence to move it out of the way when not in use.

Or you could forego the top rail in favor of running a fixed ridgeline from the fence to the top of a single TDS tripod (or bipod) and then down to the ground with a STONG stake. I've used one of those twisty, screw-it-into-the-ground, dog tie outs and it was fine.
Or you could use a single, strong pole along with two guy lines to two twisty stakes.

^ True. You can also take two 2x2s or similar 8' or so lengths of lumber and bolt them together making an inverted V, (^) and attach your hammock to that and then a strong line to the ground with a substantial anchor.

Lots of ways to skin this cat.

you can also do a knockoff of the YATS. Ive been using one in the yard for a month now. Most of the time one end to a tied to a tree. sometimes i use a 2x3 on each end depending where the shade is and where i want to hang.
