    Harold Hang in Eastern MA

We had a nice turnout and a really great group of people. We even converted Nathan's parents and they will be attending a future hang once they get some hammocks. We got some nice kayaking in on Fields Pond, warm bonfires, and cool 55 degree nights perfect for snuggling into our quilts. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

This was one of my favorite hangs! Thanks for that pic of my duct tape shower shoes Megan. Chaaaz taught us how to make a friction fire with a bow drill and Atrane21 and I both did it! And Sunshower and I pieced out a whole chicken, also compliments of Chaaaz. What a great group...

This was such an awesome hang with a great bunch of people. It was nice seeing everyone and meeting a lot of new people as well. I was able to get some mountain biking in, a great paddle (thanks 1960hikerdude/Mrs.1960hikerdude for letting me borrow the kayak), and got a fire started with a bow drill (new toy to play with ). Oh and as always there was SOOOO MUCH GOOD FOOD (4lbs of bacon was consumed on sunday morning!)

I have some pictures and short videos I will try and get posted tonight.

Also, not to hijack the thread but if anyone is interested we are trying to reschedule a kayak trip. If you're interested hop on the thread and toss out some dates. We'd like to get a bunch of people together for it. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...rip-p-Planning

    Harold Hang in Eastern MA

===> This was another great hang! With about 20 hangers, it was small enough to be more intimate, with room around the fire for all. We could not have custom ordered better weather for once! Sunny 80s during the day, and cool sleeping weather in the mid-fifties at night. Just awesome!

We welcomed several new hangers to the tribe, and hope to see them all again. I ran a small Bushcraft skill session on making a fire with sticks using a crafted on site Bow Drill set. Country Roads and Atrane21 took to it immediately, and worked through that initial learning curve over a day. But they both produced a flame eventually, and I know they will continue to practice their new survival skill!

I also did a short demo on fabricating (breaking down) a whole chicken into parts. Sunshower and Country Roads each came up and processed half a bird for the crew. Again, great job!

Country Roads did a session on making Whoopie Slings, and I actually made my first one! Buying a Loop Turner, now - more toys! Chelsea also did a session on lock picking. (We are an eclectic group, for sure!)

And 1960HikerDude is one prepared camper! His EZup and camp stove made the food production area A+!

I have to say that it was great to see Dutch again, and meeting his friend, Gypsy! As usual, he had all sorts of new goodies to show us, and the new Clark Vertex two-person hammock was a hit! So was a new prototype piece of DutchGear (Shhhhh!) that a couple of us got to try out. The dude us too cool for school, and I am always amazed how far he travels, and his dedication in attending our hangs! Thanks once again Dutch!

I had a fun time cooking breakfast for folks Sun morning, and while I was cooking eggs (any way you like them) and grilling English muffins, Gastar (Jerry) was cranking out pounds and pounds of bacon! Add some coffee, Espresso, OJ, and more, and no one went hungry.

    A coupla shots:

    The camp kitchen area:

My rig: (I hope someone got a shot of it at night with lights on!)

Planning several more hangs over the summer!

    What a ball!

    Megan,

BIG THANKS (and Yeti Call) to you for getting this rolling. I had a great time relaxing and hanging out. I got a chance to learn about lock picking (yep watch out guys). Found I think my new favorite hot sauce (Jerry, it really was that great, you could really sell it, what a balance of heat and flavor, and that bacon).

Later on today or tomorrow I will upload the pics I took of rigs.

I look forward to meeting up again (maybe as soon as August 15th, but I will start the thread for that later today/tomorrow but will need help with a sign up sheet).

    So until later, later...

    Pete

Your Flash light trick/ hiding behind the dimly glowing fire was the best, Pete. :0)
