Good catch, It has been a long time since I worked with these bridges. I did use ribbon instead of grosgrain for this reason

krs, all you would need to know is the depth of the arc. In easier therms, the deepest point, which would naturally fall at the center of your spreaders, between the spreader and the body. The dimensions I am using and spreader ratio give me an 11.43" arc depth.

You would take the measurement and add that length to middle of hammock body for center point of arc.

hangnout, once again I'm left smacking my forehead with a V8 can! Your solutions to everything are both elegant and simple, while in hindsight so obvious. I just love watching your brain work.

Thanks Hangnout for the cool idea on end caps. After seeing your way I had to try it and in the spirit of Halloween I did it in orange. I may top it off with the Shug style removable netting.

Looks good jrs... Im a big fan of orange too.

I ended up going with a sewn on end cap because I want to retain the ability to add a zippered bug net. So I have been making templates as I come across a new needed dimension. There are 2 of them in the picture, one for a 36" and one for a 43".

    Opie,

I've built a couple of bridge's using Hikingdad's end cap method, but have wanted to try a sewn on end cap like you've done. Do you add an extra fabric to you templates for a seam allowance to sew the end cap to the hammock body? Do you just use a french seam to sew the end cap to the hammock body?

    Thanks,
    Dave-O

I added .5 inches for a seam. I just sewed the edges together close to the cut ends and then covered the seam with bias tape. I have one finished I'll take a picture of this evening.
