UP in late July/ early August

I'm going to be off work for three weeks, from July 18th through August 7th, and thought I spend my time exploring the UP. First I though I'd ask if anyone has any ideas for a couple three or four day loop hikes. Second, would anyone be interested in joining me on a couple three or four day hikes in the UP. My time is totally flexible during that time frame.

There are a lot of options in the UP. I'll give you the ones that come off the top of my head:
Porcupine Mountains - Tons of loops, make your own.

Pictured Rocks - Chaple Lake Loop (about 2 days). Beaver Basin, you can find a loop in there. Grand Island - Short ferry ride out of Munising to get there.

McCormick Wilderness Tract - This is a mostly "trailless" area, but there are a lot of game trails and ski trails as well. Plenty of lakes and other natural features to see. Mind you this is bear, mosquito, and cougar country.

    Craig Lakes State Park

    Sylvaina Wilderness

Rocking Chair Lakes, not sure if this is a loop or an out and back.

    Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm planning on doing a little longer hike in the Porkies. Craig Lake is one of my favorite places, but I like to take my kayak there. I'm not familiar with Rocking Chair Lakes, but I will look into that area, as well as Sylvania Wilderness. I appreciate the input.

I would do one week in the Porkies, one week on Isle Royals, and the last week jumping around to various other places of interest. Enjoy your trip!

Very short out and back, but the climb to the lake is no joke! Scenery is well worth it though. There is only one real campsite, but lots of trees to choose from.

Dam I was just looking at the calendar thinking I want to do the same thing. However I will be in Canada from the 14-28th and am suppose to work 29-11. I would definitely want to tag along for parts. Hard to get my girlfriend and friends to go up that way. I highly recommend buying a map from the ranger stations for 12$. They are regional and provide directions to locations few will ever visit. Very beautiful waterfalls that make good in-betweens well known spots. The best waterfall I have seen is one that is 1 mile off a logging road and on this map. I also highly recommend picture rock in fact we will be staying there on our way to Canada.

I will be in the Porkies August 1-3. I am the adult leader in a scout troop that will be doing some hiking there. I wouldn't be able to separate myself from them for some serious hiking (if we get 8 miles a day out of our young ones, that's a win), but if you happen to be in that area at that time, let me know. Maybe we can arrange to say hi in person. I would love to see a more experienced hagner's setup first hand. I'm all store bought off-the-shelf right now.
