Just finished working on my driving directions to the hang.
Hey, we had sunshine last year. Just saying!

Just took a count and see about 28 folks signed up for the hang. We have room for more if you have been holding back. Last year we handled 39 folks.
Looks like the food sheet is filling out nicely. Thanks to all of you for bringing the goodies.

A word about meal planning: if you come Thursday or early Friday morning, plan your own meals. Friday night we generally have some things to share. Saturday morning is a group meal, lunch can be had at the festival area, and Saturday night is also a group thing. We usually have enough leftovers for a decent Sunday breakfast/brunch. After that plan your own meals.

Raffle prizes are mounting up. Slowhike has a separate list of items to share at a later time from various HF vendors. Many thanks to them for supporting this hang, as we know that a lot of hangs now ask for donations. Thanks also to all of you who have generously contributed to the stockpile of items.

Hang Time will be here soon.

Hope we have clear skies and cool weather.

Still trying what to bring for the group meals.

Our plan is to get there Thursday PM and try out some of my versions of Bablefish5's meals.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

What do you guys typically do with the dogs at night?

Vehicles allowed in the group camp site?
Like they said, there is always a chance of rain so be prepared. I often use my umbrella in camp, unless I need both hands, then it's time for the rain jacket.
Temps are usually mild but cool at night.
Here is the weather station located at the Ranger's office.
    http://weather.graysonfriends.org/

Dogs should always be on leash. I have extra rope so I can make a short run near my chair in camp & another, longer run at my hammock. That way they can sleep on pads on each side of my hammock or go out from under the tarp to use the bathroom or just look around.
Personally, I use an over sized tarp (12' X 15' I think) over my hammock when car camping with the dogs. Extra coverage in case of blowing rain.
I'll probably take a fleece blanket for each one for cover/comfort. They may or may not actually need it but I'll have it if they do.

Parking is at the edge of the group site but be prepared to carry your stuff at least 50' or so, maybe further if you choose to set up your hammock further into the woods surrounding the group area.
Like before I will probably bring a wheel barrow for anyone to use to take stuff (food, coolers, cooking supplies, etc) to & from the cooking/socializing area under the big tarp.
The big tarp is 20' X 30' so we will have good coverage in case of rain.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

We could use an extra tarp to set up in the "Hammock Demo" area if any one has one. I'd say at least 10' square but a little bigger would be better.
If rain comes during the hammock demo time at the festival (9am till 5pm Saturday) it's nice to have a place were we can stand/sit together & talk.
In years past we have had a few visitors join us under our tarp when rain got heavy.

Maybe it will be like last year & not rain... but don't count on it

Also, don't forget to have a tarp over your demo hammocks if you want to have it dry Sat night.
Some will have a tarp strung over the demo hammock but leave it in the snake skins unless needed.
