Finally going to be hanging it up for the first time this summer! I'm taking the family up to the mountains for the fourth just outside of the Trinity Alps in Far-Northern California for a few night stay at a small campground. Not exactly a big hiking weekend, but it will still be fun. Unfortunately the wife and little one still sleep in the tent, (he's not quite big enough for a hammock of his own just yet) but we're going with some friends and my sister as well so I hope to inspire some people to elevate their camping experience!
I'm using my fairly out-dated system of 550 cord, I say out dated because it's the same way I've been doing it for years now! It was a great way to start but not the fastest to set up. Not to mention I see everyone using the whoopie slings or something similiar now-a-days and that just looks like an all around better way to go. So needless to say I will most likely be retiring the ole' p-cord suspension and upgrading to some shiny new amsteel blue in a week or so.
If any one knows of a good day trail around the lake let me know!
I'll let you know how it goes!
