    Hanging from a ladder?

Just looking around my garage trying to find parts to construct a stand from and my eye falls on my long window cleaning 2 storey ladder. Wondered if this would take the weight of me in a hammock hanging underneath it.... Then wondered about propping the ends up on two step ladders and lashing it all together.

    Thoughts?

I personally would try it. With the extension ladder closed up, it is going to be pretty strong. Step ladders would work, but they tend to be tippy side to side, be real careful not to swing.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

Was thinking the step ladders would be set tangential to the big ladder if I could manage to rig it properly.

That is interesting. I happen to have an extra long extension ladder however my step ladders are taller than I'm willing to fall. Maybe I will look at two 5 or 6 foot step ladders at wall mart.

As in all experimental situations: Don't hang higher than you're willing to fall.
And when those ladder fall on top of you, it's going to hurt.

Sounds similar to a bamboo hammock stand in theory. I've built two and they seem amazing strong, though each creaks when I first get in. I have had one collapse when setting it up indoors (slick floors) for a demonstration, so it does happen!

Be cautious and don't hang higher than you are willing to fall on whatever is underneath. And, in your case, watch out for that commercial-grade "widow maker."
