Hi all,
seem, that good 'ol Germany is a developing country, when it comes to hammocks, so I was reading here for a while. My interest in hammocks began kinda classically some weeks ago on a sailing trip, where I saw a really gorgeous lady on our neighbour-boat lying really relaxed in her hammock between forestay and main mast. She was just taking a nap in the afternoon sun, but since that day I am thinking about the question, if perhaps a hammock could be an alternative to the muggy compartments on the lower deck. Under the stars in good weather, rocking gentley (wow!), but even with rain under a tarp, until Bft 4 or so (would be glad hearing from experienced sea-hangers!).
Anyway: when I came home I bought a TttM Double and installed it in my backyard, to test hammock-lying. Fortunately I heard about lying diagonally early enough, so I was thinking hard about selling my one-man-tent, lying there the first time - when I discovered the next problem: CBS :-) (no real summer until now, here). I tested some pads, but that was a nuisance to me, so I decided to get an UQ.
Did I tell, that Germany is a kind of hammock-diaspora? I found just one single german online-store, offering one single UQ. Which I did not found very convincing. So I decided to make one myselfe. And that is the reason to check in here, because there are still some questions left, where I am hoping for your support. More in the DIY/UQ section, later.
Kind regards from "old Europe" ;-).
