AT hike, DWG to high point NJ

As always its super late notice, but i finally got my plans in order and plan to leave tomorrow (July 4th) after work and head to the backpacker site before Sunfish pond. Saturday I am gonna crank out the miles and try to get to the Brink road shelter, if i don't make it there i may spend the night at the campsite above the Buttermilk falls trail. Sunday I plan to hike to the Mashipacong Shelter. Monday will be a short hike to High point. If anyone can get away on such a short notice even if only part of the trip let me know. All are welcome!

One of these days I will plan something out in advance.

Haven't hiked to Sunfish Pond since I as in Boy Scouts, let's say 30 + years ago. Your post brought back a lot of good memories and too bad I am in TN now and can not get there in time for your trip. Take a picture of the lake and post so I can show my son. Thanks

You taking Baxter? Careful, there are some rocky spots.

Yea Baxter will be going. I have hiked this section before and Baxter isn't shy to rocks, living in PA and all. Thank you much for your concern!

Edit: I also rub Baxter's pads nightly with the same badger foot balm I put on my own feet to help with cracking.

I am at the backpacker site, above the Delaware water gap, right now. I can see fireworks all around for miles. What a great night, happy 4th of July everyone!

That must be a great view. I saw planes flying over the fireworks tonight and thought that would be cool to see too. Have a restful night. P.S. I'm jealous.
