Last year in the High Sierra

September 2013 at about 10800 feet near Kearsarge Pass.

    hammock2.jpg

This was the start of a week long trip wandering into the Rae Lakes area, Sixty Lakes basin, then exiting over Mt. Whitney.
This was my third week long backpack in the Sierra using my home made gathered end hammock.
I'll never be truly happy sleeping on the ground again.

Fantastic area to explore......hammocking up there is the cherry on the cake.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

Loved backpacking the Rae Lakes Loop! That was epic. Great picture--thanks for posting!

I had really intended to hike another couple of hours that day and get closer to Glenn Pass. But when I saw that spot, I decided to change plans. And no regrets, I was able to relax and do a little reading. Truth be known, I had already pushed too hard, too fast, too high and got a bit of altitude sickness, but nothing serious. Beauty trumps efficiency, or something like that.

I am prepping for a JMT thru hike next week. We resupply on Kearsarge pass so maybe we can camp near the same spot.
