    Toggles.... what to use?

So I'm swapping my suspension out for whoopie slings and tree straps but I can't figure out what I want to use for toggles. I was thinking about using a small piece of copper tubing but would that be strong enough? Any suggestions?

My personal favorite toggle is a 3"-4" piece of a plastic coat hanger. It's dirt cheap and I've done a number of hangs with that kind of toggle with no problems whatsoever.

I prefer aluminum tubes (for weight savings), but copper tubes would work fine. On our porch (hammock gear testing zone) I use a half rotten, former-dog- chew wooden stick to anchor whoopies to a wall bracket loop. Still holds my largeness up.

Pretty much anything that can resist compression either hollow or solid will work. I've used aluminum tubes, copper tubes, tent stakes, PVC tubing, aluminum arrow shafts, carabiners, wooden dowels and trail sticks.

Aluminum knitting needles at WM $2.98 the pair and get the largest ones. Cut down to thirds you will have 3 prs. approximately 3".

I have some cut aluminum arrow shafts that I can send you - they're about 4" long. Send me a PM and I'll send you some.

+1 on Knitting needles. Chop one large one in half. I got the standard resin type

Awesome! Thanks I think I have an old arrow shaft laying around. I'll give a couple things a try. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll let you know what works out!

I currently use short lengths of 25mm copper tubing and it's easily coping under the strain of my less-than-ripped body
