    I'll grant that, but I don't have enough long term experience with polyester to know how UV resistant it is. Polyester is used in sun shades and should hold up pretty well. I'm using a polyester tablecloth for my hammock, but I try to keep it out of the sun when I'm not using it. I just think that it's a good idea to try not to expose structural synthetics to more sun than necessary.

    Rather than sew it into the tarp I'd be more inclined to use it as a continuous ridge line under the tarp. The extra width over rope would reduce wear while the wider band would be better for the trees too. ;-)
