2014 AT NOBO thru hiker seeking advice

2014 AT NOBO hiker here. I'm going to hit the white mountains in about a week. Do you think I'll be alright with a 40 TQ and 15 UQ for the middle of July. I'll also have a down jacket to supplement. I've been using a 40 TQ/UQ and have been perfectly fine so far.

If you were fine in GA and NC in the Spring in that gear (or did you have different gear then?), and fine in VT last month with it, I think you'll be okay in NH in July. You have a good tarp for windbreak right? Night time weather on Mt Washington right now seems to be averaging in the 40s with the occasional dip into the high 30s.

I went through the same area at nearly the same time a couple of years back and used a 50* top and bottom quilts, and a silk bag liner.
One night I added my jacket and rain coat, it was 29F, still slept very well.

It is a challenging area, watch your step, but is so beautiful

In GA & NC I was using a 15 TQ/UQ but sent that home after Mt. Rogers. Yes I have a HG tarp w/ doors which blocks the wind very well. I think I'll go ahead and try it with the 40 TQ/UQ I've been using. I'll just get my down jacket back to supplement when necessary. I just do not want to take on a bunch of extra weight if it wont be necessary.

Thanks TZ that gives me a little more confidence!

It sounds like you're making good time. When did you leave Springer?

You had a cold first few weeks then! Your 15 degree quilts must have been the envy of many chilly hikers come dusk in GA and NC.
