VT>Need help planning Green Mountain Trip Dover, Vt

For my Birthday a few months ago, I received a pair of tickets to do the Greene Mountain Adventure Challenge, in Dover, Vermont. If you've done the challenge this year, please.. no spoilers.

I'm completely unfamiliar with the area, so I'm hoping to find someone who is to give me some pointers. Is there anywhere nearby that's hammock friendly? Can I camp right in the Green Mountain National Forest?

The only real thing the Adventure Challenge website tells me is: You DO NOT need to camp or spend overnights in the forest. ::

Slightly innocent, mostly mischievous bump.

I've found that I can camp in the GMNP as long as I'm 200' away from trails/roads/water. But would still like to hear from someone with knowledge of the area on possible locations. I have no idea where this Adventure Challenge will take us, but I was hoping not to have to backpack through it. A central camp would be great.
