go to you tube and look up how to make whoopie slings, you'll learn fast
Loop turner. A few bucks at Walmart in the sewing/crafts section. I was able to whoopies with other methods(wire or the inside of a pen) but the loop turner just makes it much easier.
Several of us prefer extra long upholstery needles, but for emergency repair on the trail a plastic or metal yarn needle works just fine is shorter but the amsteel opens up and the needle with tapered cord attached passes through just fine. Others prefer the "dritz" loop turner. All of these devices can be found at fabric stores, craft stores like Hobby Lobby, and the craft and fabric section of larger Walmarts. Also you can try fine wire bent over like the stuff sold at hardware or dollar stores for hanging paintings on walls or for suspending industrial ceiling. Guitar strings. Bicycle cables etc you get the general idea?
I priced these at Walmart a week ago:
Dritz loop turner $3. ( or $2.97 whatever)
Yarn needle plastic $0.20 (not easy to find package of just one)
Metal yarn needles $1.47 (package of 4 needles)
I paid about $2.46 for 3 upholstery needles the longest was 12 inches but they were 50% off at Hobby Lobby.

Dritz Loop Turner or a piece of wire folded in half.
See post #4 for my "tools"... https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...=1#post1282685

I more often than not use tapestry needles.
thanks that helps a lot
I've been using doubled-over bailing/fencing wire. Dunno the gauge, just had it lying around the house...
Very carefully
I'm not completely stupid, just "Nucking Futz"
