Need suggestions on hole punch spacing for a 1/8 pad

Have one and I want to use it mostly for a warm weather summer only SUL pad but want to punch holes in it so it will breath. This will go between the layers of a double hammock.

I was also considering trying this with insultex.

Thinking 1/4" holes at maybe 3" on center in a grid or something like that.

Someone here must have hole punched a CFF.
At least I think I remember reading such.

One way to find out is to do it and see how it works.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

    True.

I asked the same question back in 2010 so I am moving slow on this one. Maybe I will have it worked out by 2018.

Think it will more likely be 1/8" holes.

Found a post where a guy had cut slits in his CFF and he said it worked well and that would be a lot easier.

I read something similar too about the holes. You may search the HF sister site. Im pretty sure it was a thru hiker. I cant remember if it was done for breathability or for cutting weight.

I bought a set of carbon steel punches so will get busy. Just need a board to work on.
Already have the 1/8 pad. Just need to figure out size of the pad and size and spacing of the holes.
