    MS/Hinds County, Askews Landing/ July 19-20

Holy short notice batman! I mentioned in another thread the possibility of some small, short notice hangs in the central MS area. This is the first of what will be hopefully three before the clear springs trip. It's because of the weather this is possible. THERE WILL BE RAIN! But it will be highs in the 80s and lows in the 70s. Best we're gonna get in July, so I'm going for it. Two spots are reserved, enough for eight people, I'm going out in the morning to put eyes on them. If you can't make it, or don't enjoy camping in the rain, I understand. Maybe next time. If you can though, we're gonna give having a blast the ol' what for!

Hmmm. Depends on the rain for me (which it appears we may have in abundance). I'm not really equipped for much rain.

I'm seeing .5" for the daytime and .34" at night with winds at 6mph and gusts up to 10mph. I'm bringing my dryfly and a 10x12 camo heavy duty Wally World special (~$16) to cover two campers. It's a good opportunity to test gear without being in a remote location. That's why I do camp in the rain trips anyway. Plus I do love the rain.

Two waterfront spots reserved. Car camping at its finest. I'm bringing the grill, firewood and percolator. Should be there around noon. Should not be hard to spot. This is a family campground with shower/bathrooms, lake, and pool. Water/power connections at each site.

Will do DD. It's cool dukhntn, I know last minute is hard to pull off. I'm gonna try and get a report going soon. Be on the lookout for another trip in August and hopefully September. October I'm eyeballing that LA hang pretty hard. I camp a couple times a month, just not always on public lands. May your straps be strong and your resolve stronger.
