    Sticky Situation

I had no choice but to hang from 2 pine trees, now I have sticky sap on my webbing straps! I am new at this- what can I use to remove this? I also found a few sap drips on my Superfly. Lucky for me they just came right off. I wrapped my straps and bagged them (still attached) so they wouldn't get sap on my hammock. Thanks, Thistle

I've had good luck using dish soap (like Joy) to get rid of sap. Warmish water and a small nail brush to get into the fabrid usually gets it out for me.

WD-40, Rubbing Alcohol, hand sanitizer..... After you get that off though you have to wash them with soapy water to remove that material as well.

At least this is what I did with mine

This question always comes up and frankly, I don't understand the issue people have with sap on their tree straps. It would never occur to me to try and remove it. Tree sap happens!

I've got four years of tree sap on my straps and it doesn't bother me in the least. When it gets on my tarp I just roll it in a ball and take it off.

Packed some tarps with pine tree sap on them away several weeks ago. Used them this weekend and was planning on cleaning it off while the tarp were setup. It had hardened and came right of with a finger nail, left just a little white residue that wiped right off.

The above mentioned remedies work well with a tooth brush or you can stick it in the freezer and chip it off. In my corner of Texas I'm surrounded by the Piney Woods and sap's pretty much standard mess around here. It's honestly not a real problem on your gear. It'll dry, then it'll get crusty and flake off. And who the hell hits the great outdoors to stay clean, anyway?

@SilvrSurfr...Maybe you're not as particular as others. I know it would bother me.
