Have never used a GPS altimeter. Is that, 2100', accurate enough for a local calibration?

Hmm found a USGS site "waterdata.usgs.gov etc" that says the Gage at Burrells Ford is 2,050 above NGVD29. Supposed I could stand near it ...

    I'm in no hurry...

    OCD? Who me? Naah!
Your OCD is killing me! Especially since it looks like you'll only be hiking from noon until 3pm on Wed/Thurs, LOL. Enjoy, you'll be fine. But there will be something you didn't think of, trust me.

I have a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx. It's several years old but any time I have checked the elevation, it has been within less than 10 ft.

Final details to be attended to tomorrow - line locks on tarp tie outs. Assemble food, one more sort and discard. Maybe pack an adult beverage?
