Now why would we have a Texas hang in New Mexico?
Now why would we have a Texas hang in New Mexico?
Well, WAY before our time... Parts of New Mexico were considered Texas.
map Well, really before Texas was Texas.... but we could do it we say we are being historical...
Edit: Here is another map.

I would be interested if in Dec and not too far from central Ark.
TEXAS hang.... Let's nail down the where in TEXAS part. Is this just a hang or are we backpacking?
I'm up for either car camping or backpacking.
As far as places go - two places that have been discussed in the past and worked well before are Stubblefield Lake campground in the Sam Houston National Forest for car camping and Fairfield Lake State Park's semi primitive hike in area (about 2.5 miles in there are plenty of places to hang and actually running water and a one seater porcelain facility), for a short back pack trip.
I would also be open to possible sites in the Davey Crockett National Forest or other suggestions. There may be some possibilities to the west in the Hill Country area as well.
I'm pretty open, I'd just like to get it nailed down by the end of August if we can, my wifes work schedule goes 2 months in advance and she'll need to get off if she comes with me or stays home to watch the kiddos.
edit: I checked out Stubblefield Lake campground on the net...looks really nice
we're not giving up on this are we?
