    Splicing stuff, of course...

Whatever you want to use to splice, fid, needle, loop tool etc, something to splice, I suggest 7/64 amsteel, and a sharpie. We will learn the basics of splicing like making the taper, back splicing and locked Brummel before we move on to UCRs and Whoopies. These basics can be used on any sized line and for any number of hammock operations (continuous ridgelines, whoopies, guylines etc).

If you have a particular project in mind (new suspension, ridgelines, etc) we can also tackle that together if needed.

I know nothing about splicing so I assumed that lesson #1 would be, "Here's what you need to bring". Fid? Loop tool? Might as well be Greek. Maybe I'll skip that bit until I know more. Sorry.

Okay, okay, dang newbies! You can do a little research on here and find out what all the stuff means; but chances are if you don't already have it you aren't going to get it by the time you leave for Fairfield (that's how I am anyway). We will have plenty of extra gear to use for your introduction to splicing. Then, once you have a taste for it, you can buy your own gear. Earlier in this thread I posted how I make my fids for splicing; you can check that out and go that rout if you want.

But like I said, if you just show up we will have plenty to teach, then you can tailor your own splicing kit from there.

Turns out we won't be able to make it after all. Since it is too late for us to get a refund of our first night, would anyone be interested in taking our spot and paying for that first night? Not sure if we can even do that.
