If it makes a difference to you, the kelty triptease is not spliceable.

Max232,
Which tarp are you getting? Doors or no door?
I use Lash-it, Zing-it or Dynaglide for my ridge line.
I prefer 1.5 mm Z-line from Zpacks for the guy lines. It is light and compact and has never failed me. I use a 3:1 from tarp to stake back to tarp then use a tautline hitch to keep the tarp pitched tight.
The only shock-cord on my tarp is to secure the doors (~4-6 feet on each door).
Great job on your splicing.
Good Luck

Here's a pic of what I did for guy lines.
guy line pic.jpg
Yes, I launched a peg one time. I had the tarp set up in porch mode over a lot of leaf duff. When that peg went airborne, I spent a 1/2 hour looking in the duff for the tent peg and finally gave up. Found it inside my hammock when I went for a nap...Nice Catch!!...
I'm getting a mama jamba from war bonnet( no doors ). Do I even need shock cord? Does the bmj stretch any?Which tarp are you getting? Doors or no door?
I prefer spliced ends as it makes for a cleaner look and less knots I guess so I will hold up on the trip tease for now. I think my zing it must be extra slippery. If I use the zing it/lash it, is there a knot to connect it to shock cord?

Not if you use line locs like the pic above.
If you don't want to use them then yes, you'd have to either tie the guy line to the shock cord or do a locked Brummel. Without the line locs you'd also have to figure out how to adjust the length on the guy lines.
I like the shock cord in there because you can pitch the tarp nice and taut and still not have to worry about winds putting too much force on the tarp. The shock cord gives before anything else does...well except if you have the tent pegs in loose soil then they give first...
I just removed all shock cord from all tarps (minus doors which only has shock cord). once it is wet it stays stretched. same with the cold. wasn't worth it in the end. make a loop of shock cord, larks head the lash-it right to it. done. line locs work better for tightening after that. in that case shock cord loops through and then just run lash-it through it with a stopper knot (figure 9 is nice to look at) on working end, locked brommel on peg end for a clean finish.
Thanks guys, i went ahead and ordered some line locs from the HF store, i think i'll just tie a loop of shock cord to my tarp tie outs and use the zing it i already have. i will splice loops on the ends. any advice on each tie out length?
That's interesting because I wasn't aware that the cold or wet affected shock cord. Is that the "rule" or does it only effect it sometimes?
WarbonnetGuy suggests 6' for peripheral lines; 12' for panel pullouts if your tarp has them.
