    Love the XLC Overcover.

Wow, I received my XLC about a week ago and I absolutely love it. I have slept in it three times already. But the one major surprise that I didn’t expect was how often I use the overcover. I assumed that I would only be using the overcover in the winter time. Not True. The moment it gets dark at night and the temperature drops to below 70 degrees I automatically switch to overcover. No blanket cover necessary. I also love the privacy, and so much space.

How often do you guys and gals use the overover?

I too am a fan of the over cover.

    >An excellent wind break makes a difference on stormy nights or nap time, especially those cold damp mornings.
    >Hides that pesky morning sun allowing me to sleep late if I so choose, or again napping.
    >Privacy, which I didn't think would be a big thing but at the larger group hangs, comes in handy.
    >Winter camping, love it for the extra 15 degrees in the microclimate
    >Lets me hang my tarp a little higher, with standing room, because I can now have privacy or close off the outside world when others enjoy some campfire time later into the evening.

I really like having the option.

For my hammocks without a cover, I will be sewing up a sock to achieve similar results.

Had mine since March and slept in it for over 100 nights. I have never used the top cover... Only used the bugnet on it... Since I have Warbonnet's 20* Mamba and HG's UQ for 20*, there was no need for more "warmth". I suspect I will try it sooner or later but It will probably have to be pretty cold...

    Cheers

I like using the top cover when it gets below 60 deg. Nice and cozy usuall with no tarp unless it looks like rain.

Here it will go from 80 in the day to 40s at night and that overcover is awesome for these temp swings. Its amazing how warm it gets with the sun hitting it.

Yeah I think I meant the winter top cover. What is the difference?

I have used the top cover on mine twice in cooler to cold weather. I didn't notice any differences in how much light was let in, however I did wake up one night freaking out because I couldn't see through the usual bug-netting. It was kinda comical once I got my arms free from my top quilt(which was snapped behind my neck). I think it would be beneficial to run it with your tarp stowed in their snake skins.

Has anyone with a top cover noticed any condensation problems?

I used it a few times, the night it was -20* with a -35* windchill I had it on and had frost raining on my face in very short order. I think maybe it has more practical application like the OP suggests in more modest temps where condensation from your breath isn't as much of a problem as well as to keep heavy dew off.
