    Exclamation Gathered vs. Bridge

Ok guys and gals....need some help.

I am a larger guy 6'1" 270+ lbs? I currently have a eno dn. I have been wrestling with comfort. I've tried srl...to much shoulder squeeze. Used a 83" and 103" I think.

Used without srl. Always seems to be something that isn't comfortable. I seem to always have hyper extension on my knees when stretched out. I am typically a stomach sleeper at home. But I am sure I can sleep on my back also no problem.

I want a rl to hang items from.

I am really wanting a comfortable lay. I am on a budget...but I can diy things also.

What would y'all recommend for a hammock gathered just longer or bridge?

Please let me know your thoughts.

I am 6'5", 230 lbs with broad shoulders. I tried a bunch of Gathered end hammocks over the years. (Speer, claytor, diy etc) Bottom line is , I was never able to get comfortable. (calf ridge, knee extension etc) Some of them were ok if you had a leg pillow just right, but not optimum. Finally I tried a bridge hammock. I have made several, and bought several ridgerunners. No more calf ridge, no knee pain---problem solved!
To be fair, I have never tried (or even seen) a clark, or a blackbird---lots of folks seem to like them! I've gone 100% bridge hammocks---works for me! (and if you are a DIY guy, they really arnt hard to make!) Good luck on your quest for a hammock that works for you1
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Do a search for the "grizz bridge" Lots of info out there--------in fact too much. It can seem overwhelming with all the talk about curves, math forumulas , suspension triangles etc. But..................when you boil it down, a bridge is actually brilliant and simple! (give me a few days--I will see about sending you the dimensions from mine)

At 6'1" you need a longer hammock than the ENO. I'm 6' and use an 11' hammock, which works well. I started out in an ENO single and, while it was comfortable enough to know I wouldn't sleep on the ground again, it was too short for me to get a consistent confortable lay.

While I haven't made it, I picked up a DIY bridge of a little different design and am happy. Many here have made HD's design with good results.
