    A New Maryland Hanger

So I started about three weeks researching and reading and researching some more (hard to keep the OCD at bay). Bought the book Ultimate Hang and talked with fellow Scouters about their experiences and settled on the Hennessey ASYM Hammock. Took it this past week on a week long summer camp trip with the Boy Scouts and absolutely fell in love with the much nicer experience than sleeping in a leaky canvas tent on a cot. Came home on Saturday and think I actually had a difficult time sleeping because it wasn't the hammock.

So now I am really into this and wanting to figure out how to "pimp" my hammock out to make it even more enjoyable all year round. Was afraid that I wouldn't sleep and so I took my tent for backup but never had the urge to pull it out.

Read another post about herding cat (I mean college students) and thought that sounded very similar to what I did with the Boy Scouts.

Looking forward to all the great information on this site and learning from lots of more seasoned hangers.

    From Columbia, Maryland

    Pat

Sounds like you need to find the Dutch's site for the lightest, shiny-est bling in all the land.

Oh, and a big welcome from down in Calvert Co.

    Welcome!

At least with Boy Scouts they've probably been in the woods before. For some of these college kids it's apparently the first time they've done this! They've been doing this trip for 32 years though, so it does sound like the cat herding has been worked out pretty well.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the MAHHA and trip planning thread for details? I looked on the calendar link and did not see any events labeled MAHHA. Is there another location that I should look?

Thank you all for the warm welcomes.

    Here you go.

Highly recommended. You can also search for the trip reports from past spring and fall gatherings.
