    It finally happened-gravity check.

My wife would always joke about me falling out of my hammock, well it happened at Cub Camp. I set up in a lean to because the only suitable trees were in the brush, or close to tents. Being Cubmaster I was the keeper of the snacks. There was too much for the tote so I improvised and hung them on the excess strap. I didn't realize it wasn't quite tight and pulled the hammock up a little when I exited. Nature called at 3AM and as I got back in the hammock I missed. On the way down I grabbed the bug net and now my GTSB is just a regular hammock.

    Bug net? Typo?
Funny story. I have seen a person fall thru bugnet and hope to catch it on video one day.

    Tough break haha
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

Well, you can take comfort in the fact that it was 3:00am, when there was no audience of a bunch of hysterical cub scouts pointing at you, knowing that they were just given a campfire story to tell for the rest of their lives!

I can understand about the 3 AM nature call and I know it will happen to me one of these days. I just hope it is not when I am with the Boy Scouts and it is day light. I would never hear the end of it.

One of the moms heard it as she was up for the same reason. I laid in the hammock until 5:00 laughing at myself. It works fine without the net.

I did it in front of the scouts. I set up 8 hammocks to give a hammock camping class, and during the class I laid in a bottom entry HH and I slowly descended to the ground. I did not check my straps and the scouts got a quick lesson on things not to do. Luckily it was a slow descent and I did not bruise my backside.

Happened to me too. My first night using a UQ. Middle of the night pee break. Getting back in I placed my left hand on the hammock edge by my leg and used my right hand to lift what I thought was the other edge of the hammock, turned around and sat down hard to the ground. My UQ shifted when I got out and I went between the two. If I'd been over rocks it would have hurt. I had a WTF moment for sure.

I fell through my first DIY hammock when the paracord turned out not to be real 550. I switch to Amsteel quickly.
