Map reading/nav class.
I stepped outside of my Army grid number skills and studied the GPS mapping number system. I am now prepared to use the degrees, minutes, seconds format on the map and commonly used now on our GPS' s. I ordered the maps in this form and have the map protractors to go with them. There is a little math involved but, Patches (11yo daughter) caught on, I think you can also. I am thinking about map reading class (identify hills, ridge, depression, and elevation change) Friday evening in the meeting hall? Refresher and plotting points on the map Saturday after lunch/kayak trip. And then navigation with compass and GPS as a backup/check after but before dinner.
Any suggestions are welcome.
