I have a 9x11 sheet of tyvek home wrap I am converting into a tarp like many others on this forum. For now I am going to keep it at 9x11 and maybe later either hex cut it or convert the ends into the door style winter tarps. I have seen many different ways of doing the tyvek tie outs most of which have complained that they didn't work either right away or over time. I have seen people using tyvek tape, grommets, and sewn on grosgrain. I have seen where the tape has delaminated the tyvek or pulled off, where the grommets have pulled through and tore, and where sewing groagrain has ripped at the sewn points. Diving deep into the caverns of the hammock forums I tried to bump a post about using plastic screw top bottles with a hole in them to rig out a guy line and it got me thinking. I know the tyvek home wrap is a tad thicker than the USPS envelope but I tried it with an envelope and it tore after I exerted a lot of force on it (more than what an average "windy" night would probably cause). Here is a picture of a Gatorade bottle done the way I am thinking. Now I am cutting the bottle part off and only leaving the cap and threads of the bottle but this is just an example. And I haven't drilled a hole and attached a guy line yet, but trying to get more than just my wheels turning. I planned on having these attached at all four corners of the tarp and two in the middle for the ridgeline. Let me know what you all think!
