    Just Arrived! SNUGPAK JUNGLE BLANKET

So, I just got back from a 3 day, 2 night backpack trip to South Manitou Island in the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Michigan.

I got to try out some of my new gear and evaluate my old gear.
My new underquilt for the HH worked great and I realized I needed to find a replacement for the sleeping bag I am using for my top insulation.

It works well, and I like having the enclosed foot area, but, for my warm weather hang'n, it is too big and too heavy for my pack desires.

I found the Snugpak Jungle Blanket online and decided to give it a try.
So it just arrive today and I think it is going to work perfect. Weighs a little over 1.5lbs and packs down very small. Appears to well made. It does not have a temp rating, but I think it will work down to about 50 degrees or so, depending on what clothing I wear.

Has anyone had any experience with this product. Just to emphasize, it is the Jungle BLANKET, not the bag.

    Thanks.

It's awesome! Had one for about two years now. It's like a low cost woobie that works extremely well especially for summer.

Good timing. I was thinking of adding one to my kit. Let me know what you think once you get a little field time with it.

so far I really like it. Is warmer than my cheezy $100 comforter. Tip, don't rip the tag off, it will open the seam. I had to hand stitich mine back together. I think this will be coming out with my quite often....

I sewed the bottom and 15 inches up the side to create a foot box. Used it to 37 f with some thermals and a 40f under quilt. Really well made and comfy feeling.

The ProForce equipment catalog page 105 lists the comfort temperature rating as 45*F with a low of 36*F. I've been looking at the blanket and the jungle bag (page 104). The bag has the same rating but zips up and out so you can use it like the blanket and has a mosquito netting. I like the looks of the blanket, but has anyone used the bag?

I have the bag. Great for summer. I have used in combination with a liner sleeping on ground with a good pad and I was cold under 40f.
And even if you saw it yourself, you wouldn't believe it

I've got the bag, in fact it's the only bag I have now, and I'm fairly certain the bag and blanket are the same thing except the blanket doesn't have the zip or netting.
