I've known about the forum since about November, but I finally got around to collecting hammocking photos from some of the trips. Wish I knew about a lot of the cottage companies earlier.
Seattle, WA - Summer 2012 - Walked by an ENO that was on sale at REI and I had a 20% and rebate to spend. That'll be great for hammock day drinking in the park like a bum! People camp in these? Pff, I've never seen it. 0% sold
Kalaloch, WA - May 2013 - Watched the sunset on the pacific ocean while able to rock myself with a nearby tree. That was nice, but it's early May on the OP and sprinkling; I'm going back to my tent. 25% sold
Vantage, WA - Memorial Weekend - All in. Never spent a night in a hammock. 5 nights against the Columbia River was a success. But the last night a Yellow Sack bit me on the hip. An ENO bug net was subsequently purchased 60% sold
More Summer trips..
Glass Buttes, OR - Mid October 2013 - A hammock sure is nice since the ground is covered in obsidian scalpels. Unfortunately it was 16 that night. A few days prior I drove down to met my folks in Boise where my Dad gave me my old CampMor children's bag circa 1988 that I planned to turn into an UQ. I figured something out, but a rough night. 75% sold
Stampede Pass, WA - November - Coldish. But it's dark I'm tired after Kendall Katwalk. Pulled off the road and set it up in the dark after wandering into the heavy brush outside a hunting area. DIY UQ is a success! And level ground becomes laughable. And I converted the guy in the photo; that was his first hammocking. 90% sold
Tinkham, WA - December - 29 degree high and 0 that night. I slept with a rock from the fire I wrapped in a wool blanket. Probably the most comfortable in a large camp. DIY UQ rocked, but later that month I pulled the trigger on an UGQ during Black Friday.
(pictures somewhere)
Peggy's Pond / Mt. Daniel, WA - Hammock, crampons and ice axe packed. People still camp in tents? 110% sold
The only thing I prefer to hammocking is a cozy snow cave..
